Default Fruit & Vegetables, Got a Recipe to eat more ?

How can we get more fruit & veg into our diets ? The benefits are undeniable. (link)

I've been making a smoothie every morning, (lately) banana, blueberry, milk. EASY and good.

What is a good way to get that much fruit & veg ?

The latest dietary guidelines call for five to thirteen servings of fruits and vegetables a day (2½ to 6½ cups per day), depending on one's caloric intake.

What a terrible way to get your fruits. Lose a lot of the good fiberous benefits of fruit.

I don't understand, is eating a banana, some blueberries and a glass of milk different than combining them all in a smoothie?

I've been told to eat 4 cups of veg a day, I can manage 2-3 servings of fruit, but I don't know how to get 4 cups of veg daily. To me that's allot of veg.

i try to have have at least one serving at breakfast, a big salad for lunch and then half my dinner plate is veggies

i more or less follow the p90x nutrition plan and i love it - lots of variety and tasty food too!

i find the main thing is to change things up - always having the same thing gets boring. i usually try to get what's in season - so selection is awesome at this time of the year!

I normally eat about a cup of "Europe's Best", "Green Giant" frozen veg, different types once a day.

Need more ideas

Please explain how blending fruit reduces fibrous benefits. Granted you don't burn as many calories by not chewing...

I like incorporating smoothies in my diet. Try blueberry, pineapple, a bit of agave, and almond milk.

If you're a cereal eater, sprinkle on some berries (fresh or dried) on top of cereal in the morning.

Probably the biggest thing for me was buying easy or pre-prepped stuff. As stupid as it sounds, I'll eat more veggies if I can go into the fridge and grab them as opposed to having to wash/slice/prep them myself. Costco has great deals on veggie trays, and I'll always keep a bag of little carrots and sugar snap peas on hand. Makes for good snacking while watching TV or surfing the net.

Also, toss your fruits and veggies where they're accessible. You're more likely to grab the carrots if they're front and centre in the fridge and keep the junk food in the crisper, or the back of the fridge.

One other trick I like is replacing bread with veggies. Instead of making a wrap with a pita or tortilla, I'll wrap it with a few leaves of romaine.

Another good thing to do is buy non-flavored protein powder, and add it to your smoothies.

Because those trying to lose weight need the added boost of calories from protein they don't need!

Also, they need to spend more money.

Generally trying to lose weight involves some sort of exercise and protein aids in the recovery process of your muscles. So yeah this is good advice.

What are you talking about? Whether you eat it whole, or crush it in a blender, it is the same thing.

I had a good recipe for a vegetarian lasagna. But it took me a freaking hour and a half to cut all the vegetables up, and it was 8:30 by the time it was ready to eat! Ever since I stick to the ones I can just pick up and eat like Cucumbers, Tomatoes (which are fruit) and carrots.

I love asparagus so I eat it with almost every meal and it's so easy. First just break off the rough end, wrap them in tinfoil with a little bit of olive oil and pepper and either throw them in the oven or on the bbq with whatever I'm cooking. Couldn't be easier!
