It has happened before. There are both Ligers and Tigons depending on which species was the father (the first syllable of the name corresponds the species of the father).
It can only happen to animals in captivity since their natural habitats don't overlap.
Adult ligers grow much larger than their parent species, but adult Tigons are smaller than their parent species because of the way the genetics work together.
