I live here in Brazil now and it's interesting. They have a culture that is very critical of what their politicans, athletes and celebrities say, kind of like in the US. CQC is a great show that burns these people with funny but often sexual or insulting remarks. It can be quite scathing at times. So while I don't agree with a law that prohibits any kind of free speech, I wanted to give background on the culture here. Make no mistake, when they interview presidential candidates here on tv they ask hard hitting questions about things people want to know but I think the heart of the law is more about satirical, comedic programming because there is a lot of that here. Besides, I think it would be unprofessional journalism to see Peter Mansbridge or Lloyd Robertson insult our candidates rather than ask them tough questions. Anyways, nowadays that wouldn't matter because blogs and websites can say whatever they want.
