Default CP Car help!

Been a lurker for many years but I barely post, today I noticed that when I accelerate my car that it makes a really loud rumbling noise, almost like a race car. This happened suddenly, it was fine before I went into the store but was really loud after I came outside, if I'm idling or cruising along it sounds fine, it is just when I accelerate. I also noticed that it sounds like something is rattling around underneath there a little bit, the sound is coming from the middle of the car it seems, I think it might be the exhaust but I don't know enough about cars to really say, help CP!
BTW, it is a 92' Honda Accord.

Does it happen only when moving, or will ithappen when revving while stationary?

(whould help isolate engine vs. drivetrain/suspension)

Stop by a muffler shop and let them have a look.

The catalytic converter might be done. Sometimes a peice comes off and rattles around inside.

That's a good possibility.

a very common problem is a loose rock, a piece of gravel, inside the heat shield for the exhaust system...doesn't make a race car sound, more a rattling sound
