Parking in/around Northlands Park

I am going up to Edmonton for Sonic Boom, but I have never been to Northlands Park. As I am driving the carpool to this event, I was curious what type of parking nightmare might I be looking at. Is there ample parking at Northlands for events of this size? Can anyone make any suggestions for backup places that you could park all day and still be fairly close to the grounds.

Northlands Park is similar to Stampede Park. Not sure how big this event is, if you can park on the grounds, go for it and then just sit it out when everyone takes off.

As for residential places to park, no idea, as the times went up to watch the Flames decimate the Oilers, we park in the arena lot, or, took a cab. Some fairly major roads surround the area, and really had no desire to explore any more of Edmonton then we had to, to find a spot.

PS. Take the hubcaps off the car and remove anything larger then dimes or quarters out of view.
