Icon25 Avalanche Trade Block

Avalanche acquired Brad Stuart and a 2011 2nd round pick from the New York Rangers this afternoon. Going to NY was Roman Hamrlik and Robert Nilsson. GM Faith has come up with his update trade block:

Wayne Simmonds (63OVR) - throwing his name out there to see what kind of offers I get - not willing to downgrade for prospects and picks, just seeing whats out there.
Martin Erat (66OVR) - Similar to Simmonds, just want to see whats out there. Erat is a good sim guy and very consistent in the NHL. Lateral move might work here.
Taylor Pyatt (62OVR) - Cheap 3rd/4th line kind of guy. Lateral move preferably but open to ideas.
Ed Jovanovski (68OVR) - Good year in the NHL, willing to take a downgrade on him + prospects/picks. Depending on who is coming my way I am also willing to take a downgrade straight up for him.
Chris Campoli (62OVR) - Lateral move probably, willing to take a D-man back that is on the bubble of making the NHL.

All prospects/picks can go.

MSN works best, but I know some of you GMs do not know how to use MSN so PM can work for you I suppose.

Willie Mitchell (68OVR) - 92DF rating is the highest DF rating in the league. Same return as Jovo.
Chris Campoli (62OVR) - Lateral move probably, willing to take a D-man back that is on the bubble of making the NHL.
Derek Meech (58OVR) - Extremely cheap d-man who can play forward as well. 990k for the next 3 years. Willing to add him to one of the above for an upgrade.

All prospects/picks can go.

Mitchell has the highest DF in the league? Wow, for some reason that seems strange. It's just because he has "a long stick" isn't it.

That's only part of the story. He has a long stick and he knows how to use it, just ask his GM!

Willie Mitchell and Derek Meech have been shipped to Washington.

To Washington:
Willie Mitchell
Derek Meech
2011 3rd(mon)
4.49 (cap diff)

To Colorado:
Kyle Quincey

I have wanted Quincey for awhile now. I have shopped Mitchell around for a long time now and this is a deal I wanted to get for Mitchell. Sure some of you will say "Why am I including full amount of cap difference and Meech in this deal" but sometimes thats what it takes to get a deal done. All of last year I worked on my forwards and this season I will be focused on my d-men. I think Quincey has the potential to be in that 68OVR range to replace Mitchell's rating. He is the #1 d-man in Colorado and has really looked like a good fit there.

While it was tough to give up on Quincey, and taking on Mitchell is a risk, this deal gives the Caps a high-end Defensive Dman. This should help Mason's numbers, as well as the team to get wins.
