Well I did it , I feel like a dirty cheating whore but I did it ...
I had 150 bucks in best buy rewards so my wife let me get a PS3 ... I have always has an Xbox360... My 3rd one crapped out on me and i had to mail it in. They said we might fix it for free or we might charge you 100 bucks to fix it. I told them if they were gonna try to charge me a 100 bucks to just send it back and I would mail them a video of me throwing it in the street and running over it on my way to best buy to get a PS3. Well they havent told me they were gonna charge me yet but I went and got a PS3 anyway.
I feel like a cheater but WOW!!!! This thing is pretty much an all in one media center! I am way impressed so far. Whats some cool things you suggest I use it for? I know there are programs you can add to your computer that lets stream stuff to you tv and stuff....
Also it sucks that I had so many Xbox games and now I gotta buy PS3 ones. Oh well I got modern warfare 2 and the controller is gonna take some getting used to but oh well!!! Now I just need NHL10 and MLB ! I am nickerjones on there if anyone wants to add me !

I laughed pretty hard at your video idea, that was good stuff.
I recommend throwing on some pictures and music and doing some slideshows. The interface is quite slick and in my opinion has always been an under-rated feature. I also recommend you take a look into picking up LittleBigPlanet. The game is great for couples to play together. Easy to get into (there's only 1 button) and it involves teamwork so people who don't play games get into it quite a bit. If you want to take it further the level creation is intensely awesome.
For you I strongly recommend uncharted and uncharted 2. Both phenomenal experiences if you are into the Indiana jones style of action games.
Finally, if you want to put your bluray player through the paces pick up the Planet Earth series ... it's been out for a couple years now and I'm still waiting for something to impress me that much.

If you're into RPGs pick up Demon's Souls. It's a lot of fun and is PS3 only.

Demon's Souls
http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=80552
I'm not a console gamer but this game is addictive and keeps me coming back for more punishment...and boy is it ever punishing. Very popular on CP. I don't have a PS3 at the moment, but I've been hunting for a cheap one on Kijiji just for this game. Right now I'm commuting to my friend's house to play it and it feels like what I did when I was 7 years old, going to a friend's to play videogames except now it's 20 years later.

It's hilarious how many xbox 360 people are amazed by PS3s. It's a far, far superior machine.

I'm still debating getting Demon's Souls. It's only $33 right now so I might. =P I've never really had incentive to buy a 360 to be quite honest, but I do love the PS3. So far my favorite thing on it has been God of War III...

In terms of playing games no it's not. As more of a do it all device then yes. But then it is more expensive to boot so I would expect it to better in certain areas.
nickerjones I suggest PS3 Media Server for your streaming media needs.

Uncharted 2, Infamous, and God of War 3 are all superb experiences only available on PS3. Killzone 2 if you're into FPS.

Heavy Rain is phenomenal, definitely check it out. Valkyrie Chronicles is an AWESOME game as well, that not many people have played. It's a RTS/RPG hybrid and a ton of fun. Don't let the art design put you off!
And don't forget the PSN games! A lot of them are a ton of fun, especially Pixeljunk Shooter, Pixeljunk Monsters, Pixeljunk Eden, Critter Crunch, Flower, SHATTER, Super Stardust HD, and Wipeout HD are all top notch.
I personally hated Demon's Souls. It's definitely a difficult game, but unnecessarily so; a lot of the difficulty comes down to bad game design. It's unacceptable not to be able to save mid level or some sort of checkpoint system. I hate back tracking through levels, which really turned me off about that game.
To reiterate a few suggestions earlier; God of War 3, Uncharted Series, Little Big Planet, Infamous, Killzone 2.
And once you get Blu-Ray movies, you'll never go back again.

If you mean "In terms of playing games" the 360 is superior. There really is no debate, it is a proven fact.
I am surprised by how many people are switching from the 360 to PS3, I have owned a PS3 since launch and an xbox for close to 4 years and the 360 is way better when it comes to gaming.

How do you prove a subjective fact?
I can prove that technically, both Xboxes and PS3s are the pretty much the equivalent of crappy computers with 5 year old technology but that doesn't mean they are still not fun in their own rights to many people.
I would buy a PS3 over a 360 any day. That is just my subjective view based on the games available that I am interested in.
I'm pretty sure that "in terms of playing games", the Xbox is not better than a PS3 when you cannot play a game on it because it has RROD'd.
Apple Fanboys, Xbox Fanboys, what's next? (Me, PC fanboy)

I prefer the apple tv despite the lack of formats. The lack of watched/unwatched badges drove me straight up the wall. That and the HD didn't stream properly.

Uh, what? Pretty sure there is no "proven fact" when it comes to what gaming system is better. I owned a 360 since launch, and once I got my PS3 I barely touched my 360.
I'd even argue that the PS3 is better for playing games, but it didn't have a fundamental flaw where the system would stop working when you tried to

PS3 any day of the week. Even though some people agree that Xbox Live is better than PSN... I have no problems whatsoever with PSN.
