I'd like to coach, but just don't have the time
I'm curious though -- is there a lot of "politics" that happen in minor football (i.e. bantam) like there is in hockey? I can't imagine parents would be as hardcore (i.e. expecting their kid to be the next Crosby). I guess playing time and position is always an issue (i.e. skill positions versus O/D line), but I always hear horror stories about minor hockey and the politics involved.

There is usually a head coach and then offensive and defensive coaches; there can also be position specific coaches, which really narrows down the numbers and allows for more specific instruction. However, if there aren't enough coaches (or you have players playing multiple positions), I would imagine it takes some effort to keep things organized.
Plus, coaching football tends to be a little more structured than having 25 kids chase a ball around the field
