Flames add Grizzlies as affiliate

Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has signed an agreement with the Calgary Flames to go along with their current affiliation with the New York Islanders.

As part of the agreement, the Grizzlies will join the AHL’s Abbotsford, British Columbia Heat in the Flames development program. Pursuant to this agreement, the Grizzlies will be provided with up to four players from the Flames organization.

Utah is fix now, are there some more rumours about to choose the Salmon Kings as an affiliate too?

That should be enough shouldn't it? When was the last time we had 5+ guys in the ECHL at any given time?

If we did need more than 4 spots, I am sure we could loan a guy or two to another team.

Our AHL affiliate for the foreseeable future is Abbotsford.

While last year’s affiliation was partial, this upcoming season Utah and Calgary will be each other’s lone NHL and ECHL affiliates respectively. Utah will no longer partner with the New York Islanders while Calgary’s partial affiliation with Victoria has been transferred to West Valley City.
