Default Opening Ceremonies Thread

With just over an hour away I thought there should be thread about the opening ceremonies and pre-ceremonies material. I'm watching the NBC coverage at the moment, and I really enjoyed their piece about Canada/American relations. Brokaw really gave us a lot of recognition for the partnership that the two countries share.

NBC currently showing their traditional opening video. Often cheesy but always inspirational.

I live a block from BC Place, and several thousand protestors just marched down Robson to BC Place. From the sounds of it they're going to try and block the torch from getting to the stadium. I get the freedom of speech, and have no problem against them protesting in an area, like Victory Square off Robson, but they're essentially ruining the experience for thousands of amateur athletes who have trained for years for this moment.

Bravo to NBC. that video narrated by Tom Brokaw made me prouder to be a Canadian than anything i've seen from CTV or CBC this past few months. i love that they made a point noting our presence in WWII and Afghanistan, and how we took in all the American bound flights on 9/11. that was a fantastic little piece that everyone here should try and watch

I can't believe they showed that Much Music stuff on all the networks.

I can't believe Much Music is still around.

Good to see Much Music turning the Olympics into spring break on a mountain (On the TSN pre-ceremony show). Could they not get girls for the hot tub that look older than 14?

I did enjoy when they cut back to the studio, and Duthie looked genuinely embarrassed to be following that clip.

Yeah, I had to turn the channel when I saw the 16 year old girls in the hot tub. CTV doesn't even compare to NBC when it comes to the broadcasts I have seen so far.

Thank science for American TV.

Yeah Much can pretty much die. NBC has far surpassed CTV's coverage thus far. TSN is more like watching a reality series, NBC is a huge production. Oh yeah and the 5.1 sounds waaaay better.

I hope NBC puts up the intro somewhere. I was watching some sluts do body shots of some ###### named LLoyd. Nice intro CTV!

Ya that Much thing was a little unexpected, especially with some 25 year old with a tub full of teens without drivers licenses.

Anyone have a guess on who the special person will be lighting the final torch?

NBC is the station to watch. CTV's coverage is cheesy and unpolished.

I swear if ben mulroney shows up on screen I'm not tuning into CTV ever again. I'm already wishing CBC had the rights.

Lets hope that the people of Vancouver give a nice standing O for the Georgian team when they come into BC place.....would be the least they could do.

It'll be on the west coast feed (Spokane or Seattle) at 8:30.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but I would ask for a minute of silence. Maybe stop the procession after Georgia enters and do it then?
