Question What is wrong with the tree?

So while in the back yard today I noticed that there is something really wrong with my Linden tree. Anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it?

While not all of the leaves have these growths(?) a great number of them do.

Appreciate any help the CP green thumbs can give.

I think you've got this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eriophyes_tiliae

The galls induced appear not to affect the health of the lime trees and no way of controlling or preventing them exists

They're definitely some sort of gall. I'd take a leaf or two to a garden centre so they can assess it for you.

That above link is for an insect that affects lime trees, not linden trees.

Do you mind taking a full shot of the trees? I've only run into linden trees once in Calgary.

Lost about half of it about six years ago so it's not quite as big as it should be . . . still flowers in the fall. Flowers make really good tea.

Maybe it's upset that Naslund's number will be hanging up beside his.
