Default Team Fortress 2 - Engineer Update! It comes!

Lol, working at Valve is second only to my dream of working for Mythbusters.

PC Gamer located a thread on the Steam forums where users found some interesting source code hidden in the seemingly harmless update. The code alludes to a Golden Wrench. Furthermore, an image was found with some jumbled text. Manipulating the image yielded a hidden wrench and URL in the picture. The website at that URL was used to decrypt the text to read: "Clearly this is more space than needed. I wonder what else was here."

I'd have to rank mine as:

1. Top Gear
2. Mythbusters
...
10. Valve

Valve and their hidden source code is great. I loved it when the Portal leak happened and it was actually hidden code that led to decrypting a phone number which led to a BBS you could dial into if you had a dial up modem that then printed out pictures in ascii.

Hmm, golden wrench.... one hit upgrades, but the buildings are more fragile? This will be my guess.

Link to the new comic released today. There are videos on youtube of people using the wrench and it turns opponents into Australium.

Actually, here's the wiki including how to get it yourself http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Golden_Wrench

Well that's fairly lame. I would have preferred it had a use.

Yep. I read the other day the bits about

"All of these portents can only mean one thing: Something big is happening...."

"Perhaps it's the upcoming Polycount Pack update..."

"Or maybe it's the release of the Official TF2 Wiki..."

"Or maybe, just maybe, it's something else entirely."

Sure enough, as anyone who follows this game would have guessed, this was a hint at the Engineer update.
