iPod FM modulator
Went to Future Shop on the weekend to buy one of these and they had two on the shelf. One was 44 bucks and the other 95. She told me the 44 dollar one had a lot of static and was crap, the 95 dollar one would be static free and awesome. I said why do you even carry the cheap one if nobody should buy it, or if people just throw it away after using it, like she also suggested.
At that point I felt I was being taken for a ride. After googling this product I can see there are about 23432423 different brands... and no way of really knowing which will give me static remixes of all my songs and which will be crystal clear quality.
It has to plug into the car lighter as well to charge the bugger. Any brand suggestions that you guys have used?

I use the Belkin Tunecast universal: http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Produ...710AF89ADF0885
It doesn’t charge the iPod, but I like that its a universal plug - I can use it with other devices if needed. Beware of any transmitter that relies on or includes software on the iPod itself (eg. anything that displays info on the iPod screen) - these tend not to be compatible with new iPod models as they come out, which is a royal pain in the *ss and a waste of money if you tend to upgrade your devices.
I find the reception on this one is pretty good - you have to figure out what volume level to set the iPod at for best sound (too low, and there is background hiss because the signal to noise ration is too low, too high, and it clips and distorts), but that’s easy and easy to remember. On my iPad, for example, its happiest with the volume at the 3/4’s mark.

The Monster one is awesome. I bought it for my wife. I know people say Monster is overpriced but this one is about $89 and if you buy it online (it is online only not in store) from Best Buy its only $39... I just ordered one.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend it for you. You will not be disappointed.

Almost anything that is online in either Future Shops or Best buys website can be purchased online, for the online price, and picked up in store after an hour or 2.

If you're gonna spend $100, why don't you spend $150 and a little bit of your time, and buy a deck with an ipod input and have crystal clear sound with the direct connection?

I have the exact same one and I do have a few issues using it in Calgary. There are so many stations that it's tough to find a "quiet" station that is static free.
I do get a bit of static depending where I am in the city and I tried to move the actual unit as close to my antenna. All in all, I'm happy because I can listen to my own music but do get the occasional static spikes. For $40, that's a great deal.

Do this or buy one of the car adapter kits on ebay that plug into your factory deck. I have a belkin fm transmitter and they all have static, it just depends on the number of stations in your area.

Shhh! Don't tell him what to use, then all the good free stations will be over-run. My suggestion, find your own! Go to the one which sounds the most staticy and no music playing, plug your adapter in and it should go silent (like mine does as my music isn't playing so it is silent).
I'd suggest the really low or really high frequencies.

I normally despise Monster as a brand, but I also have their FM transmitter, and it is quite good. I have has no problems getting clear audio in town.

Could anyone recommend a FM transmitter & car charger combo for the Creative Zen Vision:M? I seem to only be able to find the transmitter itself which isn’t that ideal as the battery on the Zen dies pretty quickly.

I spent about $100 at future shop to have an aux in installed in the car. It's been beautiful.

I have a monster one... works great with my ipod classic, but the iphone always plays out of it's on-board speaker when I go to ipod app?
I have a 3G if that matters.

Yes they are bringing one here, just not sure when..
As for decks, I try to avoid any type of advertised stereo in my car.. I know all cities have crime, but Saskatoon is among the worst for car break ins. Just last week on our fishing trip my buddy had both his cars robbed back in the city, like they just knew he was gone, and then last weekend my buddy got his window smashed for his ipod touch.
I like something I can take inside with me and I never leave anything of value in my car for the slimey pricks.
