The 18 people that make Facebook annoying
Via GQ Magazine
A taste:

It's so true. I find myself 'hiding' more and more people from my newsfeed.
Also, number 18 is currently frustrating me to no end. Must find new picture.

What happened to "person you met briefly at a party and is now requesting your friendship"
And "person you never really liked back in junior high, but in a moment of weakness, you added him/her when they requested. Then you deleted a few weeks later, during a little clean up sesh, only to get a friendship request from the same person a few days later"

That baby one is so true. I don't know any new parent with Facebook that didn't do that. Not one.

I made a point of never allowing MY profile photo to be of my baby. She can be in the picture with me, but that's my profile damnit! Not hers!

As I'm entering parenthood along with my friends, I'm noticing Facebook is now suddenly 95% "My little munchkin has a fever" followed by 13 replies, all variations of "awww".
Hey I'm a sensitive man. I enjoy eating quiche and discussing my feelings, but for god sake don't give me the play by play of everything.

Does anyone have that annoying friend who updates his status like 50 times a day with ruminations.com lines and sells it off as his own lines?

That pretty much covers everyone. Everything in my news feed can be put into one of those 18 categories.

They also forget "Person Who Will Post Link To This Very Article On Facebook Itself As An Act Of Clever Irony Especially In Light Of The Fact Said Article-Poster Is His Or Herself One Of the 18 Offenders Mentioned In The Article", and I may or may not have done so myself.

What's scary is going back and finding a pattern in your own statuses.
I'm song lyrics/philosophical quote guy. That or inappropriate joke guy.

Yes, hover over the post in your news feed and a little "X" will appear. Click it and you'll be given options for blocking posts from that person showing up on your feed. If it's the stupid information posts from Farmville or Mafia Wars or whatever lame game they're playing, you have the option of blocking updates from those apps as well.
I hate to say it, but I've had to block updates from my nieces. I love them and everything, but I don't need to read the barely coherent ramblings of a 12 year-old girl. Everything that happens to them is the most important thing that has ever happened to anyone...ever.

How about the guy who becomes a fan of lame things?
John Smith likes Starbucks
Do this people just sit around all day typing things they like into FB search?

These threads are great, they just reaffirm I've made the right choice in ignoring Myfaceyspace sites. LinkedIn is as socially connected as I'll get.

12 year-old girls: the worst kind of girls. I say this based on the volunteering I've done for summer camps.

I'm guilty of the baby pics being my profile pics. I think everyone has to do it at least at the start. The only thing that drives me nuts it the incessent updates people do with their kids. You don't need 10,000 pictures of your kids on your facebook account.

I know someone who created an account for their baby...
I also have a buddy who ends 99% of every status with a sarcastic..."living the dream". If you hate your job that much, quit.
