Friday the 13th

So today is Friday the 13th. And if you're thinking, "big deal," you're right. It is a big deal. Such a big deal that nearly $1 billion worth of commerce won't happen, because people are afraid to fly, travel, and shop.

What makes this day so scary?

Question: What makes this day so scary?

Reason: Most people are too incompetent to understand common logic.

I don't buy silly superstitions. But my sister in law won't leave the house today. She refuses to work or shop on Friday 13th.

The Skeptics view:

http://www.skepdic.com/paraskevidekatriaphobia.html

Paraskevidekatriaphobia is a morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th. Therapist Dr. Donald Dossey, whose specialty is treating people with irrational fears, coined the term. He claims that when you can pronounce the word you are cured.

Paraskevidekatriaphobia is related to triskaidekaphobia, the fear of the number 13.

It's not Friday the 13th that scares me. It's Thursday the 12th.
It's like the quiet brother of the Evil kid who denies he ever did anything wrong. Someone killed that kitty, someone burned down the school...but it wasn't the "Evil" kid.
It was the quite brother that no one ever suspected.

The only problem I have with Friday the 13th is that Monday the 16th will inevitably arrive, signalling the beginning of another, long, work week.

I live in a new neighbourhood that is totally developed, except for one lot that sticks out like a sore thumb. It has been for sale for almost 2 years now.

The address? 666 Cougarstone Drive.

I got paid today, and don't have to be in at work until 5. Sounds like a good day to me

I always thought 668 was the neighbor of the beast. 667 lives across the street, odd numbers on one side, even on the other.

Hell, I'd jump all over that in an instant if I had the dough. At least buy the lot and develop it when I have the cash. I'll do anything to be more unique.

my dad used to work for motor vehicles. They used to just skip the licence plates that ended in the number 666. Only would give them out if you requested them. When I asked who would request it, he told me alot of cab drivers do, makes it really easy to remember their plate number, etc. Sure enough looking around Sydney I only ever recall taxi's with 666 as the numbers on their plates.
