Default Super Mario Galaxy 2

Getting excellent reviews. Gamespot gave it a 10/10. Gametrailers gave it 9.7/10. Is it time for me to get a Wii? I haven't played Mario since the SuperNES days. Kind of itching to get back at it.

If you haven't played Mario since the 2d days, I'd suggest you start with:

Though both Galaxy games are super fun too, it'd just be a big adjustment I'd imagine.

I would actually reccomend starting with Super Mario Galaxy. 2D Mario is fun, but the 3D ones kick the crap out of the 2D ones, especially the two lacklustre "New" ones they've put out.

Mario Galaxy 2 should be my game of the year quite easily, considering the first was my game of the year when it came out, and both FF13 and GOW3 were a bit underwhelming.

I'm only a few stars in to Mario Galaxy 2, but it's nearly identical to the first one (which is actually a good thing as the first was amazing).

I'll be picking this up shortly. Loved the first one, and New Mario Bros picked up were the DS one left. Still finding stars on Mario Bros Wii.

This game was the only thing that made me hesitate to sell my wii. In the end it was the right decision, but I would love to play this game.

10/10 from IGN and Gamespot? Is it really that good, or is more to do with them sucking up to Nintendo?

Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption couldn't even hit 10/10 and they seem like much better games.

Does anyone actually rely on Gamespot for any kind of ratings advice anymore? Just curious, because I was surprised to see Gamespot mentioned twice in the thread.

How do they "seem like much better games"??

Also got a 100 score from 1up. That's huge for me. Now I wait for Yahtzee's review before I buy it.

Ugh, reading this is getting me close to buying a Wii... But as soon as I finished a couple of games I would be done with it

Maybe I should rent one for a couple of weeks and get it out of my system.

Just buy it. They're cheap and you get Mario, Zelda and Metroid plus any fluke games that happen to not suck =-o

Absolute blast.

Spent the entire morning playing this game and it took me back to being 12 and playing super mario world. I even busted out the frosted flakes and pretended I was not 26.

5 stars out of 5 so far.

I have a Wii and I've played it more than my PS3. (I've also had the Wii alot longer)

Better than the first one.

For those that have it, get to 120 stars. That's only the beginning...

Just started playing this the other day with my kid (playing together means me playing and him watching lol).

So far it's quite fun, seems more varied than the first and more challenging too.

We play it in the evening after putting our son to bed. The wife and I do most of the playing but our daughter (3 years old) insists on having a turn. Kind of hard to deny her that while we try to teach her how to share and take turns with other kids.

She mostly just runs around on Starship Mario. It's gotten to the point where, with a little assistance, she can get Yoshi and then go around eating things. She's particularly fond of talking to all the little stars.

Can you have the second player like in the first one where the second player could collect star bits as the first player rolled through the levels?
