The wii is the negligent father that keeps promising to show up to your little league games but never does. I have no faith in anything wii related not named "Mario".

Wayne Gretzky and kids Emma and Tristan with NHL Slapshot. And a Wii that's neither plugged in nor connected to the TV. Magical!

Hopefully Wayne doesn't high stick either of those kiddies while the ref pretends to look the other way.
Sincerely,
bitter Leafs fan

This could be 'fun' for a while, if it's made good.

Maybe Lemieux should have been the spokesman for this.

Not even Smash Brothers?
Also, Blaster86 speaks the truth.

And they can't do both?
These are both separate development teams. So this takes no resource away from development of NHL 11.

According to the article

which is being developed at the EA studios in Burnaby, B.C., by many of the same team members who worked on NHL 10 and this fall’s NHL 11.

Or Metroid (for me at least).
Not that I can play either without taking some sort of motion sickness drugs anyway.

Same studio, but not the same development personal. Same ordeal with NBA Elite (formerly Live) and NBA Jam. And Madden NFL/Madden Wii.

I was a Gretzky fan, but was there no better embassador for this game? He hasn't played in a decade, he had a less than triumphant return in the coaching ranks. His name was brough up so many times in the Phoenix Coyotes dibacle...
Why not put Theo Fleury on the cover?
//end rant
Not really looking for a response, just my thoughts...

Kinda sorta, ya. I really enjoyed Madden on the Wii. The gameplay was terrific and the motion controls made things a bit more challenging than the typical 'button mash'.
My only real issue with the game (and every Wii sports game) was the ColecoVision quality graphics. I knew I wasn't going to get high-end imaging, but the results were incredibly disappointing, even with the low expectations.
Overall - I think that the Wii can offer some insanely enjoyable sport-themed games, but to buy one with any expectation of realism is silly.

Where are you getting this information?

So according to the article, it is taking away development resources from NHL 11.
