Im just wondering if anyone on CP can answer my question. I cant find it on google.

So I have a pay chek from a company I worked for for a few days back in January. Anyway it was a post dated chek and I had deposited it before the date. So it got processed and returned to me. However it has a hole punch in the bottom on the check and has a stamp on the front that I can not make out. I can read cleared and certified. but there is a full sentence...

Does anyone know if I can take it to the bank and get it cashed, or do I have to get the company to re issue the check for me?

Typically punching a hole in the encoding line on the bottom of the check is to ensure it doesn't clear because that will cause any machine to reject it. I think you'll need to have it reissued.

You either have to have the person re-issue it, or you have to go to the bank that it was drawn on for them to certify it. Those are the only two ways.
