Canucks Fans
Can we make a rule that any Canucks fan who signs up prior to a Flames/Canucks game, or during a Flames slump, gets banned if they don't post within a day or two of a Canucks loss or Flames win streak? The trolls around here run like freaking clockwork.

How about the easier solution- ignore the trolls.

I just want to say the mods have been doing an excellent job with new posters who are obviously here to troll. I am trying to ignore them and just report them now but sometimes they make it too easy.
It is pretty easy to determine a troll from a contributor who just signed up and you guys are doing an excellent job at putting out the fire before it burns down the thread.
Makes it more enjoyable when you can actually talk hockey with the Canuck fans here (Mad Mel, Mayer, etc) instead of a pissing match with a troll who only comes on after a Flames slump or Canucks win.

Isn't a plague of Canucks trolls besetting the world a sign of the imminent Mayan apocalypse?

Roland Emmerich left it on the cutting room floor. Look for it on the Premium Blu-ray edition of 2012

We need a better ignore feature and I would use it a ton more!
edit: did a little online search and if you have Firefox this feature is a beauty! Just playing around with it and I may actually keep out of trouble as long as I keep this updated on all my computers.

Ignores the person completely. No telling you that they posted, no showing quotes from other posters. You can even ignore Joborule and Caged Great's threads when they pop up.

Ban them all from the hockey forum. Either you are a Flames fan, or you are a troll. There is no other reason to come here. We don't care what each other thinks about hockey.

Perhaps im a lil off base here, But isn't that kinda an ignorant view?
On Canuck forums, I quite like having other teams fans post. I find they provide interesting insight, and are able to look at our team without the rose coloured glasses, and be a little more subjective because of it.
However, I am opposed to "True" Trolls posting, and think they should be removed entirely. They quite often provide nothing to forum conversation. and more often than not make bait posts in hopes of inciting others.

The ignore feature sucks, I had to stop using it because CP makes absolutely no sense when you can only read posts from dhb, Infamous1, The Velvet Sea, Oilerfanin80, and dobbles.

I suspect he was half joking...
What is annoying though is the number of Canuck fans who's only purpose here is to try and push how great their team is - and only when winning, of course. Frankly, I don't give a rats ass what a Canuck fan thinks about his team, much less what 20 of them think. If I wanted to know, I would go to CDC or HF.
What I would suggest, seriously, is that any Canucks fan who only posts in a Canucks game thread (cause lets face it, it is impossible to talk about any other OOT game when the Canuck fans are around) or only to defend the Canucks, they should be punted. They aren't here to contribute. They are just here to push an agenda.

i know this is a bit of a weird suggestion, but have you guys considered giving the canucks their own game threads? one of my favorite things is talking in the OOT thread when I am at home watching games. but on nights the canucks play its not even worth it as it quickly turns into a giant 300 post thread that is only trash talking about the canucks.
while i certainly understand that this is a flames board and its counter intuitive to want to give the canucks games 'preferential' treatment of their own thread, it could really help out people that enjoy the OOT's.
thoughts?

Unthank. They can go to their own boards if they want their own game threads.

Of course they can. In fact most of the Oilers fans here do. But I can think of two Canucks posters I like in Blaster86 and Mayer. I have nothing but time to talk hockey with those two. However the rest that are recognizable are trolls aren't here for discussion.

Canucks fans are like fascists. One or two and it's interesting, they bring some spice to politics, create some debate, and while you think their views are small-minded and bigoted, you put up with them because they're a minority and not really hurting anyone. More than that, however, and you've got the makings of a party on your hands and the fate of the free world (CP in this case) can hang in the balance.
Basically what I'm saying is, fascists and Canucks fans alike should both be tried for crimes against humanity.
