As someone in IT (but not responsible for photocopiers) I had no idea. But holy crap!

I immediately emailed my boss the youtube link.

Some partners were forwarded this link last week. Freak outs ensued.

Our photocopier vendor (Ricoh) offers software that overwrites data on the internal hard drive after it is no longer necessary to be saved. Easy fix although it would be nice if this stuff came loaded by default.

What is with the panic on this all of a sudden? I have been in IT for years and we always made sure to DoD wipe or drill drives on EVERYTHING including printers/scanners/etc.

This isn't new or rocket science. Amazing this is catching people off guard. I can't wait until someone gets a CEO's old Blackberry and find's information on that!
