Hey guys, I wonder if anyone has a quick answer to the following.

My PC is up and running, but the monitor is still slated as "default monitor". Usually this is a snap to fix by updating the driver, etc, and you're on your way.

But ...

in my case when I go into Settings - Advanced - Monitors ... the Properties button is greyed out and can't be selected.

How do I get that greyed out option to appear so I can direct the monitor to the CD Rom holding the driver set?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

If you open up your Device Manager, go down to Monitors and Right-Click on your Default Monitor there should be an option to update your driver

Yeah I tried that too ...

The only "?" in my device manager is under OTHER DEVICES and is called "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)".

It won't take a driver change from the CD ROM provided.

I choose update driver and let it try to do it automatically and I get "wizard cannot find the necessary software"

I try the advanced option, choose "Monitor", "Have Disk", and "Browse", the driver set comes up showing the drivers on the CD. I choose the right driver for my monitor (BenQ FP757), which is "FP757V2" and I get "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".

Any thoughts?

Very frustrating.

Just thinking off the top of my head, but couldn't you install the monitor under "Add New Hardware", so instead of changing the existing settings you are creating a whole new monitor profile???

I haven't quite thought that through...But it could perhaps work...

Doesn't work.

Is it possible that my graphics driver is the issue?>

Photon sent me the driver for the video card and then the "properties" option was back and it was a snap from there.

Thanks for helping out Mike, LA Flames Fan
