Just looking for some feedback on this website, which is targetted at 16-24 year olds.

I'm not in your age demographic but I have a couple comments.

The design is nice but I don't think the message really hits the mark.

There's too much humor. It kind of feels like a website about zombies.

Sites like this seem like they're talking down to kids about drinking and driving. Teenagers aren't stupid. They may act like it sometimes but they know when things are being dumbed down for them.

I'm 23, so I'm in the demographic. Dumbed down is a pretty good way of putting it I think.

In fact I agree with everything KTrain said above.

I did go through the quiz though and entered the contest. Maybe I'll win an iPad in June.

Agree with KTrain. I'm also not in the demographic but it feels like a bunch of middle aged people sat around a board room brainstorming on what teenagers like. Zombies! Facebook! Myspace!

It feels forced imo. As a kid I always hated it when adults tried to "get on my level" by speaking in a different way. Just approach me in a serious manner and if your point is valid I would listen. Just because I acted like a total idiot didn't mean I was one.

I applaud the attempt to get a point across without being overly graphic or using scare tactics. One thing I always felt that was effective yet underused was stating consequences that are easier to imagine. For a kid (or an adult even), the concept of an activity killing you seems far removed and unlikely. My favorite anti smoking advertisement was a poster of all the things that could be bought using the money that goes to a pack-a-day habit. The idea that "smoking will kill you" (while true) is too uncomfortable, too easy to mentally block and there's always the chance it won't. Focusing on the money however isn't as uncomfortable and it's going to happen to you.

For something like this message, I would have targeted it towards the negative aspects (legally) of getting caught while drinking and driving.

Also, trying to be funny is risky business. If you pull it off great, but if you end up falling into the category of trying to be funny but falling short, it can backfire and just come off as obnoxious. I feel this campaign falls into that hole.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Anytime you get a site built in flash it gets ungodly expensive. Anytime you throw a "game" into the mix the cost starts growing exponentially. I can't think of a worse way to spend money on a website actually.

i failed the quiz

and i don't see the point of the site. is a kid going to google "how not to die driving" and then find this site and go "ohhhhh, so that's what I need to do? not drive plastered? wicked (or whatever kids say these days)"

Do PSA websites like this really do anything?

I just wanted to say that I REALLY wanted to like this site. I really did. I think it's a good cause.

I'm just out of the demographic you're looking for, but I found it really patronizing.

I seriously doubt that any young'uns believe that driving drunk is good...even when I was in junior high, many moons ago, we had it pounded into us that driving drunk was bad. I went through the P.A.R.T.Y. program at the hospital, I've seen the photos and the movies. I think the problem is that people (of all ages) have trouble self-identifying when they've had too much, and this website does nothing to address that (not that a website COULD, but I'm just saying).

Also, young people are invincible. I know I was. So you can do this stuff until you're blue in the face, and it's not going to make much of an impact, because "it won't happen to me". So what if I'm staring at a mangled body, it's someone else's...not mine. (I don't think that now, but when I was a belligerent teenager I definitely thought that).

Honestly, I don't know what the answer is, but there's my feedback.

You make a strong point. This site may be preaching to the choir. When I was a teenager the vast majority of my friends understood the dangers of driving while drunk. The ones that didn't ... well ... let's just say they were in a special group impervious to learning.

Maybe it gets people thinking but I highly doubt it.

More feedback from someone not in the target demographic. While the look is fine, there is too much searching around for the ultimate message or purpose of the site. It probably won't do the job of getting any messages across.

You need to put those kind of dollars behind a campagin for this demographic. This age group wants entertainment and "bright flashy colors" to hold their ADD at bay long enough to get a message across. If they stay on the site longer than 2 min then its a success.
