Default Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo 2010

So it is this coming weekend, anyone planning on attending?

http://www.calgaryexpo.com/

I went last year for the Battlestar goodness (Edward Olmos was there) and had a pretty fun time walking around and checking everything out. Seeing some of the costumes people put together is pretty cool too.

Pretty good lineup this year (a small selection):

-Leonard Nimoy
-Malcolm McDowell
-Tahmoh Penikett
-Aaron Douglas
-Brent Spiner
-Billy Dee Williams
-A bunch of actors from the new Twilight movie (dear god it will be over-run by teenage girls!)

My sister got me a photo op with Billy Dee Williams for this year, I'll be down on Saturday with the family. Still trying to think of what I could dress my 10 month old daughter up as.

I'll be there, picked up tickets at Another Dimension before so we don't have to wait in that huge ass line again like last year. Plus they're a bit cheaper before hand.

My daughter loves going, she was a little freaked out by the guy in the venom costume last year, but loves looking at all the toys and comics. Should be a blast.

I'm tempted to go just because I'm such a big fan of Malcolm Mcdowell.

Don't really care that much about the rest, thought Nimoy would be cool to talk too.

Of course I would do the world a favor by killing the people from Twilight.

Leonard Nimoy? Doesn't this just blow all the other ones away which usually had sucky guests like Robert Picardo or something? Brent Spiner too? 99% of Trek conventions have worse guest lists than this

Captain Crunch, if you see Malcolm Mcdowell, ask him why his career has sucked so much since A Clockwork Orange.

You must go now and fulfill this promise!

My sister thinks we'll have to get there pretty early Saturday morning, she figures the place will be overrun by Twilight fanboys and fangirls.

Another question I have, how should one pose when posing for a photo with the awesomeness of a guy like Billy Dee?

Heh, I'm sure that would make me popular for the nerd set, I might as well run around making tie fighter noises.

While most of the movies that he's been in have been dreck, he's usually a bright spot in them.

While its not a sci fi picture, his 5 minute camo in "In good company" as Teddy K, basically stole that whole movie.

While Generations was just not a good movie, he was the best part in it, and he did kill Captain Kirk.

And as stated before, I'm a huge fan of the wing commander games and his turns in WC3, and even more in WC4 as Admiral Tolywn made those games.

Blair " You're heading straight to Kilrah with that thing"

Admiral Geoffrey Tolwyn: Well, what would you aim for if you had the biggest gun in the universe?

I'll probably go to do some shopping and check out the costumes. There were some really hot girls in pretty skimpy costumes last time I went.

Not sure if I should take my kid this year, he's already obsessed with Star Wars and Mario and Transformers, if I take him he'll go insane with all the stuff available, I can't see any way for that to end well.

haven't been to one of these before, but my kid is 3 and a big fan of spiderman and such, any comments if it would be age appropriate, or would there be lots of violent images / videos around for him to easily see. would love for him to see all the costumed people, but not so much the violence... thoughts?

William Shatner: You know, before I answer any more questions there's something I wanted to say. Having received all your letters over the years, and I've spoken to many of you, and some of you have traveled... y'know... hundreds of miles to be here, I'd just like to say... GET A LIFE, will you people? I mean, for crying out loud, it's just a TV show! I mean, look at you, look at the way you're dressed! You've turned an enjoyable little job, that I did as a lark for a few years, into a COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME!

[ a crowd of shocked and dismayed Trekkies.... ]

I mean, how old are you people? What have you done with yourselves?

[ to "Ears" ] You, you must be almost 30... have you ever kissed a girl?

[ "Ears" hangs his head ]

I didn't think so! There's a whole world out there! When I was your age, I didn't watch television! I LIVED! So... move out of your parent's basements! And get your own apartments and GROW THE HELL UP! I mean, it's just a TV show dammit, IT'S JUST A TV SHOW!

Oh and if this helps push anyone over the edge for going, after SDCC this year Nimoy is retiring from conventions.

I would be there except I am going on vacation

I really wanted Billy-Dee Williams to sign my decorative Tiger Woods plate.

Yeah creepy old guy wandering around Comic Book Expo taking pictures of young scantily clad fangirls... I like being outside of jail.

Is it worth going to, if none of the guests appeal to you? I'd be interested in picking up some prints, toys, etc.

From walking around the show last year there is lots of that stuff around. I'm sure there would be plenty to interest you.
