I've stayed in a few different hotels in Saskatoon..Holiday Inn Express is decently priced and on Idylwyld. Same with the Travelodge. There's lots of hotels though I'm sure they'll find something somewhere. Both of those would be close to the airport though so tell them to maybe try something downtown.
Maybe they'll put people up at the University?
Just stay away from the lettered Avenues or the West side.

Nobody ever thinks of it, and you can book a jacuzzi suite for $140.

If they end up staying downtown, go eat at the Spadina Freehouse. Pretty good food that isn't super expensive. Also, drink at Winston's.

Country Inn & Suites. That was my go-to for the pre-season Islanders games and the World Juniors. Good price, good location (near the airport), decent rooms, free breakfast in the morning.
Also - you must go to Fuddruckers.

Just don't eat at "A touch of Ukraine". I made that mistake 4 years ago and my colon is still paying the price.
