Former Oilers coach Ron Low in Foothills Hospital after being attacked in Calgary
http://www.edmontonjournal.com/sport...468/story.html
Got attacked from behind by some hooligans on 8th avenue in Calgary. Can't stand losers who have to attack people, especially those who are such cowards that they can't do so face to face.
"Former Edmonton Oilers head coach Ron Low remains at Calgary's Foothills Hospital after his intestine was damaged when attacked in downtown Calgary last Wednesday night. His body took a beating. "They had to sever an intestine and rehook it to the bowel," said Low, who may be released from hospital next week as he recovers from the mugging."
Yikes. Get well soon Ron. I've met him a few times at playoff games (during the playoff run he would go to every game even though he was on the Sens at that point) and he was such a nice guy who would stop and talk to the fans. Reminds me of the Flames version of Ken King.

Doesn't sound like the actual beating has anything to do with hockey. Pretty strange that he would just get randomly attacked. Article doesn't say if he was robbed or anything....

Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with hockey or the Flames.
Terrible incident nonetheless.

The last word in the quoted text is "mugging"...

That type of crime is all too common in Winnipeg. I'm suprised it happened in Calgary. I always thought it was such a peaceful city.

That's horrible, not matter what the reason why he was beaten.

The sad thing is that after 17th and perhaps 4th St, Stephen Ave is the most frequented pedestrain strip on a weekend evening.

To be truthful I'm not certain I'd be able to pick Ron Low out of a line-up. I would assume it has nothing to do with hockey and is just a horrible random situation.

I don't live in Calgary. Was this not downtown? Is this a bad area of town or a well traveled area? This was near his hotel, no? Why should he not be able to walk around freely at that time of night near a hotel?

I give a 9 for the over reaction, but only a 4 for the insults. Moron? Reptile? Your lack of imagination cost you serious points and, likely, medal consideration.

the downside of becoming a large city is you get the afterbirth scumbags like this. Get well fast, Ron.
