QuickPull v2. It simulates a battery pull. You can set it to work daily. Mine is set for 3:30am.
BigTinCan BuzzMe. Enables your BB to vibrate while it is ringing. You have probably noticed that BBs will vibrate first and then ring but won't do both at the same time. (This to me is the worst thing about BBs. Not being able to ring and vibrate at the same time).
Both apps are free. QuickPull is essential IMO.

Whats the importance of the daily battery pull? How does that improve things?

From what I can remember (from back in my BB days), it helps with performance. As you use the phone throughout the day, memory gets fragmented and bogged down etc. The battery pull is the BB way of rebooting the phone.
Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del on the keyboard did the same thing. It did for my Curve, anyway.

That is the most annoying thing, my curve vibrates, but I don't feel it for some reason, then rings for about 5 seconds - not enough time to get it out of my pocket, and take it out of its case.
Had to get the case, because it was constantly calling people on its own before I did.

There isn't one that I know of.
For my Bold, it's Alt, right-Shift, Del.

It costs like $3 to install, but the Canadian Press app is the best news source I have found, by far.

I finally took the time to look up some new apps for my Blackberry and I have to say I'm amazed at the apps I've been missing out on!
- The new Score app is amazing. Has coverage of like 10 leagues including the PGA, and what appears to be a refresh every 30 seconds.
- Bloomberg app is great. Easy to use to follow your stocks and it appears to be a push app for delayed updating of selected stocks.
- Time magazine reader. I've missed reading Time.... a nice little reader
- Poynt - has movie listing, yellow pages, restaurant all tied to your GPS. No more 411 for me!
- THE best browser for BB I've used - Opera Mini. Makes the stock BB brower look like it's 10 years behind the times.
- Facebook - self explanatory
- BB App world - great app to choose all of the above from. Can filter by free which is nice.

Anyone find an app that allows you to record phone calls? This would be really handy for doing interviews over the phone.

Battery pulls are good to help free up memory as was stated earlier. As you start to open emails and view attachments it all uses memory on your berry. I have realized a weekly battery pulls helps your phone to run smooth. I have even heard some people say pulling the battery and keeping it out for 5 mins helps.
Also as a rule of thumb, if you berry ever seems to really be acting weird or super slow, just pull the battery.
For apps that I love, google maps is good, weathereye is good for weather, shazam, texts from last night (good laugh, kinda like FML but with texts and is free). If you are with bell or telus and CDMA can't send texts over 140 characters you can get an app called beyond 160 (about $7) but it allows you to type messages as long as you want and will split them up as multiple texts. This is handy if you tend to have longer texts.

Quickpull
Unlike the red power button on your phone which merely reloads your device, QuickPull will actually refresh the device, freeing up memory and increasing performance!
Schedule to run a QuickPull at a certain time each day, or multiple times each week.

Can you download this from the App World?
Also, does it work properly with Bell? Reading the description on the app, it says it splits messages into 160 char long messages, but the limit for Bell is 140.

I have been using a few apps since I posted in this thread last. The only one I have payed for is One Touch Flashlight. I have it on my left side convienience key. It uses the flash for the video camera as a flash light. Cost me $1.00. I use UberTwitter for Twitter. Opera Mini and Bolt for browsing the internet. A fun game that is free is Ka-Glom! Its kind of like Tetris.

Hey, I am on bell, I actually didn't know bell was 140 and not 160 (well didn't really pay attention) but after looking at the options you can change if your msgs are 160 or 140. I do believe I saw it on the appworld. There is also a free trial on the appworld.

While searching the app store I see there is another app called textender. I know that it is similar and half the price. There was no trial so I was not able to see how it works but from what I heard beyond160 is better. In beyond160 you start a normal text message and once you hit the limit if you hit the blackberry button and select "go to beyond160" it will import the msg you were typing into the application and you can continue where you left off.
I heard textender doesn't do this and you have to copy and paste the message into the application (but apparently it can be launched from the blackberry button).
To me the auto importing of the message was a big deal since I run into this problem quite a bit and that little time and effort saved was work the extra $3 - $4.
If you do get the beyond160 trial let me know what you think.

Make sure you have OS 4.5 or above. Quickpull dies horribly on my 4.2 equipped 8830.
