Travel Agent - Need Help for Destination Wedding
Hi Guys,
I didn't want to clutter up the great thread YCC Travel Junkie has going, so I thought I'd ask here:
We are doing a destination wedding to the Caribbean and we've picked the resort and blocked off some rooms.
However, we'd like to have a travel agent as a point of contact for relatives and family, especially with regards to flights (my fiancee's mother is contacting the hotel to reserve a block of rooms for a set price tomorrow).
Has anyone got any experience with this type of situation? Perhaps an agent that you could recommend?
I want to avoid us booking now for a reasonable price, and then come a month or two, the prices doubling and people being unable to afford to come.

When we went to the Dominican for our wedding (through a travel agent), the prices are locked in for the year. The prices never changed, the only risk guests took by not booking early was not getting a seat on the plane.

I re-read your post. Looks like you already reserved the hotel? If going through a travel agent you might have to do everything through the travel agent (flights/hotel, etc). Not too sure.

We haven't reserved the hotel yet, we were going to do that today - Any recommendations on a travel agent?

Sounds like a horrid business plan. Travel agents are nearing extinction (once this interweb thing catches on), I can't see any resort actually having such a policy.

We want a travel agent so, as I said, there is one point of contact for family and friends, as well as take some of the variability out of the prices. A travel agent can block book rooms and flights and lock in a price - I can't.

Truth be told, Travel Agents and Agencies are making somewhat of a resurgence. Booking a trip to Vegas online is easy stuff. When you start booking weddings and trying to accommodate a group, things get a bit more difficult. A good travel agent is worth the price of admission.

Exactly, this is something you want someone on your side to help with.
What resort is this btw?

Really? I think the bipolar "whatever happened in the last 24 hours is my un moonable position and I am going to rant all about it until the next game, when I will change my option 180 degrees" is the worst part.

Parenthesis remove the effect of a run on sentence, didn't you go to school? Please see the "tire vs. tyre" thread for an explanation of many critical English language, spelling and grammar rules.

Based on this thread and the twitter rage thread, I'd wager that Ducay and Amorak are brothers. I cracked the case. Good for me.
