Default Stuck wheel on vehicle how to get off

Okay I have a rear wheel drive car, and one of my back tires is stuck on, and I can't get it off. Tried WD40 on the flange, reefed on it as much as I can, its' still stuck. Anyone know any other tricks?

Loosen the lug nuts and drive it maybe a foot or so and break. Tada!

You may have to go back and forth and stop a couple times, but itll come loose, always does. Just make sure the lug nuts are just loose, not off or close to.

I had a stuck alloy rim last fall when I was trying to switch to my winter tires.

If you have a deadblow mallet try tapping on the edge of the rim, and if not, use a normal hammer with a piece of 2x4 to protect the rim.

P.S. I now run a bit of grease on the back sides of my rim where they are in contact with the hub to try and prevent this in the future.

Ya, Id try a sledge-hammer on the rim (w/ wood) first before loosening the lugnuts trick.

For the life of me, on my truck, could not get the rear wheels off, even with sledge-smashing-goodness, but the lug-nut trick worked.

I wish I thought of that before spending an hour doing this:

Yeah, I've been banging on the tire with the slege hammer doesn't seem to be doing much. It currently doesn't have a working alternator (although I only need to spend 20 minutes to run down to Oroville to get it) and it happens to be on the side of the vehicle closest to the wall. I could roll it out of the garage....but my driveway pretty much drops off like 15°. My younger and much stronger brother is on his way, hopefully he'll have some luck.

An oxy-acetylene torch should get it off. It won't help you put it back on though.

At this point you must be spinning your wheels trying to figure out how to get the wheel off of the vehicle.

My neighbour does on site welding and fabrication. I'm hoping I don't have to go knock on his door later tonight.

You could always go to the local store that stocks camping gear and get a little blowtorch adaptor for a small bottle of propane.

I always use a rubber mallet on the inside edge of the rim and slowly rotate the tire as I hit it. Its a pain in the ass with the car on the ground but it will always come off if you can hit it hard enough. Avoid hitting the tire as it can cause a bulge in the sidewall.

^^ me too! I ran into this problem last week and used a rubber mallet. It took about 5 minutes of beating the rim, even lost a good chunck of the hammer. A good solid hit from the side did the trick

Put your tire iron on it so that the tire iron is sticking up in the air. Get a long pipe (if you have one) that has an open end that the tire iron can fit into. Basically you are really extending the lenght of the tire iron and can produce a TON of torque in doing so.

I'm pretty sure he's got the lugs off but the wheel is rusted to the brake drum and hub.

ya, If you can't drive it (and thus do the lug-nut trick), then I think a combo of torch (to expand the wheel metal) and sledge should do the trick.

Drive another car into it from the side.
