I filled out an online market research questionnaire and was rewarded with a collection of preview clips of NBC's version of The Office.

I haven't seen the original British version so I have no basis for comparison, but IMO this looks funny enough to be completely lost on the vast majority of the TV audience and cancelled in short order.

The original British version is great...I'm fairly skeptical that an American remake could be as good. But I'll at least give it a shot.

I saw a commercial for it a while ago and it looked decent.
Any idea when it starts?

Those clips looked horrible. The US equivalents of David and Gareth had absolutely none of the charm the British actors did.

I'll probably still watch it, since I'm such a fan of the original, but I can't see it possibly being any good, especially if those clips were any indication. Much of the humour in the British version was very subtle, which of course doesn't translate to mainstream American audiences. It seems like all the jokes shown in those clips were hitting the viewer over the head with a mallat.

The NBC website has had clips up for about a week now.. and they look.. weak. The British version is one of the funniest things I have ever watched, in fact I forced my girlfriend to watch two episodes of it with me last night, she's never seen it before. Thank god for the DVD collection.

Steve Carell is funny, but I am not sure if this will work. I think it can be funnier then 90% of what is on TV right now, but I am not sure that will be enough to match the origonal.
