Love, Hate and Propaganda
Nobody watching this show because nobody watches CBC?
Anyways it's pretty good study of the 2nd WW hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos. On every Thur., I believe with part three of six on tonight.

That would be one reason nobody is watching it.

You mean like Cabbie annoying? No he's pretty laid back, just sticks to narrating.

Although it deals with the 2nd WW, to me it's more about how the populous is manipulated to follow the leaders of the day. In Germany, Hitler is telling the Germans that the Poles are attacking their German population in Poland and it's on the front pages every day, so the Germans feel righteous invading Poland.

I'm watching it, and it has been excellent. I learned a few things that I didn't know before as well.

Well considering the number of WWII fans and political junkies around here, I thought I'd bring it up as it could be easily missed.
What brings it to my attention is how the German people were manipulated into war much the same as the Americans were manipulated into the war with Iraq, although the American government didn't have to arrange an incident they (with a little misdirection) took advantage of it in much the same way.

Until a show actually tells the public that the British Secret Service funded the Nazzii Party and Hitler in thinking they would be better equipped to pay the ridiculous war reparations charged to Germany after the first world war, I will take all these shows with a grain of salt. British greed is to blame for the European WW2.

Ha, interesting, kind of like the Taliban were funded by the USA and in both cases came back to bite them.
and Yeah-baby, it's not that this news is revolutionary, it's that in our stupidity we keep on repeating the same story. In the middle ages most couldn't even read or write, what's our excuse.

Because it is the order of things. All states want to do is obtain as much 'power and influence.' If they can find some kind of justification for they will. It doesn't matter if we're talking about the Peloponnesian War, World War II or Vietnam

That may or may not be the case of 'all states', but if it is why do we have to keep playing the patsy. What's that famous mangled Bush saying about fool me once, well even though many believe he was an idiot, he fooled many of us once again. With your attitude, there isn't a lot of hope for our future.

Okay all states that are relevant in shaping the International System. I'm not saying don't try and change the situation. However I don't believe in the power of the individual to create change on a mass scale. Therefore you would need institutions such as the United Nations to prevent states from 'hoodwinking' their populous. However for the UN to be legitimate those same states would have to give up their national sovereignty. Which isn't going to happen.

/tinfoil hat.
You can blame any numerous little things, especially using a modified chaos theory argument. I mean, why don't we blame Hitler's mother for birthing him.
