Default LF: Cheap DVD Player

My daughter's "little leapster" isn't compatible with PS3 as a DVD player, so I'm looking for something on the cheap. Like, $20 or less.

Anybody have an old DVD player collecting dust in their basement they want to be rid of?

Ya, I just chucked a couple into the e-recycling bin the other day. Pretty sure you can get new ones for less than $20.

We just gave our old DVD player away - but it sounds like you've got a few to choose from! Any idea why the PS3 can't handle the DVD? In case you already haven't, maybe try updating the system software on the PS3 to see if that helps.

It plays the DVD fine, but I guess the leapster console itself needs to communicate wirelessly with the DVD player. I called customer service when I couldn't get it set-up, only to be informed that the leapster console thing isn't compatible with PS2 or PS3 at all. So, cheap/free DVD player it is!

I'll try Simmer2's player first and if it doesn't work with the leapster, I'll be coming down the list trying to find one that works. Thanks guys!

I see. It must need to use the IR/remote function to communicate to the DVD player, and the PS3 is all done via Bluetooth. I have the Blue-Ray remote for PS3 and it doesn't have any IR transmitters and doesn't need line-of-sight to operate. Makes sense now!
