Default Cigar Sickness

So I had a cigar with my roommate last night, actually it was only half a cigar. I don't inhale them. But about half hour later I was heaving over the toilet about every 15 minutes. Im wondering if this was just a flu thing or the cigar. I've never had this type of feeling with a flu before though, it felt like someone was gripping my stomach. I was in a pretty good amount of pain. Is this common with cigars?

I don't know if it is common but I've known people who get ill when they have a strong cigar and don't otherwise normally smoke.

As long as you don't inhale, you shouldn't be getting sick unless the cigar is moldy. You probably just inhaled without realizing it. I did the same thing my first time smoking a cigar and felt fine an hour later.

In Vancouver there is some uppity cigar shop. Some dude who runs the shop kept telling my friend and I all about the "proper" way to smoke cigars and such. At any rate he said that potent higher-end cigars should probably take you around 2 hours to properly smoke and often you'll need to blow them out, set them right on the ashtray and go back to them later.

My friend and went to Seattle after that, and we decided to fire them up. We were outside our hotel and it started to get a little cold so we finished them in about 30 mins, like you. I started to feel pretty sick. An old lady pulled over, got out of her car and asked for directions. My friend, not being from Seattle, didn't really know but was briefly trying to figure out where to send her. I started throwing up, on the street right by her car, pretty hard. She got into her car and drove away.

We figured we should have given the cigar another 1hr and a half.

Thats odd; the people who usually get sick are those who've never smoked anything. The fact the OP has smoked weed and still got sick intrigues me. Im leaning towards food poisoning!

I used to smoke a pack a day, I smoked a Cohiba robusto in about 30 minutes and was puking later.

You learn your lesson to pace yourself after that.

Oh, now that's a rookie mistake...to start off on Copie and to try and horseshoe it is a terrible idea. Gotta work your way into the addiction! Thank god I'm done (pretty well) with that stuff.

Chances are you swallowed some smoke.
It went in your stomach vs. lungs
Same thing happens when people smoke weed and green out

This

Its pretty common when your not used to smoking cigars.

Or you chewed to hard on the end and some tabacco mixed with your saliva and you swallowed that.

Smoking weed has nothing to do with one's ability to inhale tobacco.

totally different beast.

Because there's nothing better then a good cigar and a nice cognac. Unless its lit by a 19 year old college coed named candi.

When you smoke a cigar, you take in nicotine through your mucosal membranes of the mouth (gum, inside of cheek, etc). Nicotine is a stimulant of the central and sympathetic nervous systems, which means your heart beats faster, blood pressure increases and causes your blood vessels to contract. This is what likely caused your nausea.

Your chances of this occurring increase when:
a.) you rush your smoke
b.) you smoke in a confined space, hence taking in more nicotine than you would if you were outside
c.) you smoke a maduro wrapper cigar. The maduro wrapper, which is dark brown or black indicates a 'stronger' cigar and higher nicotine content.

Ya the 1st time I smoked a Cuban cigar I got really sick as well. Now I'm pretty used to them and just take my time and don't rush it.
