Oilers plan for massive sell off
Well we failed badly this year as we sit 5th in the West and face a certain annihilation by Anaheim in round one.
Simply put the team is too old, and I tried to put together a SIM team and it frankly failed badly. We really have no hope to beat any of the top 3 teams in our conference and although we could finish 6th and wipe the floor with Detroit our net gain of banking on that isn't enough to risk keeping our current players for next year. Our combined record against Anaheim, Minnesota, and Anaheim is 2-8 this year, and this SIM spits out pretty predictable results right now.
Players who we would like to move by the trade deadline are
Chris Osgood (you'll be surprised how cheap you might get him)
Sergei Gonchar Still an elite offensive NHL defenceman
Kevin Bieksa Injured in the NHL, but may be a good thing as he's productive in the SIM and could have his rating bumped down making him affordable
Jeff Finger He is way overpaid in the NHL but has 36 points so far this year
Ville Koistinen Can play either forward or defence which is handy when injuries come calling
Kris Draper One of the CPHL's top faceoff guys, I've saddled him with Turkeys so it's hampered his production. Still good defensive forward/PK guy
Saku Koivu Still has a good faceoff rating and passing rating, perhaps he'll produce better elsewhere. Enquire, you might be surprised how cheap he could go for
Derek Armstrong If you want him and can pay him anything, you can have him
Other players who are available
Stephen Weiss
Martin Havlat
David Moss
Valteri Filpulla
Scottie Upshall
Lukas Krajicek
maybe
Martin Erat and Ales Hemsky, although I'm still not particularly sure about either guy.
PM is the best way to get me. I might be slow to reply, the little guy gets a bit more active every day. I might log onto MSN one day here. But if you hold your breath waiting for it, you'll likely suffocate.
