Default Shaw testing 1 gigabit broadband

hello fiber to the home

will probably be ridiculously expensive when launched, but i hope it brings down the 100 megabit nitro connection to a more reasonable price

Bioshock 2 would still lag online.

Now, if they could only explain to people the difference between a bit and a byte.

"Wowee, I have a 1 gigabyte connection!"

It's not DOCSIS, it's Fibre to the Home. If it were running on coaxial it would use up about 19% of cable's bandwidth or approximately 75 HD channels.

ya i got it mixed up with Nitro. i honestly wasn't even aware we were laying fiber to the home, though Shaw is quite adept at keeping everyone in the dark

They came up to my door last week and gave me a big bag of wheat bran. That's when I knew they were doing fiber to the home.

Does it really matter how long it takes to download 2 minute clips?

Are your download speeds really going to increase?

Has anyone with Nitro actually maxed their connection before?

Interesting that they would do this now, right after Google announces their plan to deploy similar internet.

Either way, its good news. Even if they don't actually deploy gigabet internet, having fiber to the home helps down the road.
