Default Ryan Miller's Mask Stirs Debate

First, I want to say that his mask is pretty damn legit. Though olympic officials have problems regarding what is written on the mask. The crap they are arguing about it is just complete nonsense. Further details are below.

Quote:
His “Miller Time” saying might be construed as advertising. An artist’s rendering of the Olympic rings might veer too far from – or come too close to – the heavily guarded logo.

He may either have to paint over them or, as he put it, cover them “with electrical tape.”

The one part Miller wasn’t anticipating trouble with – and the one he will fight the hardest to keep – is the simple inscription “Matt Man."

Miller Time and the Olympic logo i could sort of understand, but Matt Man? why the hell would they have a problem with that? unless there's some new Marvel movie i haven't heard about i don't see how that could be seen as advertising

He's using Matt Man with his other helmets and it's obvious it's a tribute and not for advertising... makes no sense

How would it be advertising? It is written is small print on the top of the helmet where the straps go. I am pretty sure 100% of everyone watching would never see it.

It would be a damn shame if he had to get rid of Matt Man (his tribute piece).

It's a tribute to his cousing who died of leukemia a couple years back, if the IOC made him cover that I would lose any ounce of respect I still have for the entire olympic movement.

Although I'm not a fan of the artwork itself (not one bit actually), I think that the fuss being made over the inscriptions are more than ridiculous.

I don't understand why players don't take their mask designs to the IOC in advance to ensure they're okay. Or maybe this is the first year with issues? Either way, you had to know there would be regulations in place.

Players are also being forced to cover their names on their gloves and sticks.

Where exactly is the exaggeration? I didn't realize that you were aware of my feelings on the issue so as to tell whether I was exaggerating. I'll inform you now though, that there's not one bit of exaggerationin what I said, it would be a classless move by the IOC.

http://twitter.com/TSNBobmckenzie:
No personal names allowed on equip. Players must black out own names on gloves etc RT @kermike:Issue IOC has with Matt Man on Miller's mask?

That is my understanding. RT @drewvis: @TSNBobMcKenzie So does that mean Quick also has to take his name of the chin of his mask?
