Default Recommend a place to stay in Parksville, BC...

I am heading out to the Island in a couple of weeks with the GF to get away from the cities....Was thinking about spending a couple nights in Parksville (heard it was a nice place), but didnt really know where to stay. We are looking for something that was quiet and quaint, and probably close to something to do in late Feb (read: some hiking?).

Can someone recommend a B&B or nice place to stay?

Thanks.

I've always liked Tigh-na-Mara.

They have a lot of different settings, from log cabins in amongst the trees to more condo-style suites overlooking the ocean. I'm happy to say my wife said "Yes" in one of their condos.

Unfortunately they started expanding their property into a destination resort. For my wife and I the magic is lost somewhat because we remember what it used to be for us.

But don't let that dissuade you. If you decide to hit them up I recommend one of the oceanview condos (especially for a flat-lander such as yourself). And make sure you go down to the beach at low tide - the sand flats are huge and are lots of fun to poke around in.

We stayed here a few years back. Very nice places on an awesome beach. Good restaurant. Don't really know about hiking much other than on the beach. It's the island though, so you shouldn't have to go to far for a good hike. Really a good place to unwind. They roll up the carpets early every night though so get your booze early.

edit: Beaten to it. Damn iPhone.

Anyone ever gone the B&B route?

I've done the B&B thing, in Parksville, at my parents.
You might want to check into Qualicum Beach also.
This time of the year, though, you won't have to worry about not finding a place.
Funny as I was typing this I just saw a commercial for www.hellobc.com. You can check there for accomodations.
Also, look into this place on the other side of the island, a bit pricey, but hey, why not.
