How many of y'all are tattooed on here? (Old bumped thread)
I was just curious how many of the fellow boarders on here are inked up. I did a search, but only came across a thread about a first tattoo.
I have four of 'em, and going to get some more ink tomorrow. The Lithuanian SS badge on my left forearm, Flying Dog beer logo on my right knee, a midget grim reaper on my right calf, and a midget grim reaper eating a sammich on my left calf. The eyes of the reapers glow under a UV light.

I have two, and I actually just cancelled an appointment that I had for July (needed time to rethink).
Now, I may be out to lunch but I really hope that the Lithuanian SS badge has no connection to the SS that first came to mind...care to clarify?

The Lithunian SS were the Lithuanian, for lack of a better term, volunteers during World War II. They fought against both the Germans and the Russians. My grandpa came over from the old country, it's a little tribute to that.

Two.
One Asian-style dragon beginning on my upper left back, stretching over my left shoulder with its head ending on my left chest.
The second is also an Asian-style dragon which wraps around my right arm around the bicep area.
Planning a much larger one in the near-future to cover my whole back. Plans are to get a scenic tattoo of the Great Wall stretching around into the distance with mountains and lakes in the background.

At one point having tattoos was a way of being original, but nowadays, with so many people having the same type of designs (crosses, armbands, chinese characters, etc..) it has become almost unoriginal. I'll keep my body free of ink. If you have a tattoo with a truly original story behind it, this can be intriguing. Otherwise, think before you get tattoos.

I feel the same way. The work on my body original(the reapers) or has a significant meaning to me. The badge is obvious, but the Flying Dog logo represents something very important to me. I'm not the type to get something that everyone else has. A tattoo, as far as I'm concerned, is self-expression or representation. If someone gets one of the "popular" type tats for one of those reasons, then more power to them. However, I think, more often than not, a person gets a flash type tattoo just to be 'cool'.

Whooo....I figured it had nothing to do with the German SS, but just kinda wanted to clarfiy....I was fairly certain you weren't a white supremecist, and after hearing what it really is, it sounds like a pretty good idea for a tattoo.

I believe in the Pony Power

I have a Maple Leaf on my right shoulder.
Cliche? Yes. But its the only symbol that means enough to me to have it inked on my body forever.
I actually got it when I told my friends I would get it if Canada won hockey gold at the Olympics. They did so I did.

I tend to agree. People don't put enought thought into what they get.
A few pet peevs of mine.
1) If you aren't Chinese/Japanese/whatever, don't get a symbol that says something stupid like "Strength" in a language you have no connection to. For all you know it could say "Broccoli".
2) Tribal bands/whatever. If I was some Maori dude (I know more than one, and they feel the same way) walking around seeing people with no appreciation for the history of those tattoos, sporting one, I'd get pretty pissed off about it.
3) Corporate logos. Unless you are running the company in quesiton, why would you want their logo on you forever?
That all being said, I have to relate a story about the worst tattoo I ever saw. I swear to God I saw a dude in EDMONTON (WEM waterpark to be exact) sporting a tattoo of the Chevrolet bowtie...here's the kicker....done in barbed wire.....if that isn't the most white trash tattoo I've ever seen, then I don't know what is....well, maybe all those creepy old broads with panther tattoos.

I plan to get my chinese surname on my back, circled by a dragon consuming it's tail. Everything I plan to get has significance and is a part of my family history.

See, heres a guy who I have no problem with getting a tatto with Chinese characters in it...good for you.
But I'll still make fun of you if you turn up sporting a "Coca-Cola" logo or something like that.....

If I ever got a kanji tattoo, I'd be paranoid that it meant something completely different than I intended. I'll stick to languages I can understand.
...although the draft beer kanji is amusing ...

###. If you want one bad enough, then sure go for it.
One piece of info I will pass on to you young folks. If you are 23 and thinking of getting a tattoo, think of what you would have gotten when you were 13. Would it have been a Power Rangers tattoo?
Because in the 10 years between 23 and 33- you taste in "what's cool" will change just as much as it did from 13 to 23.
And every so often my one buddy thanks me for talking him out of getting a large Tasmanina Devil tattoo.

I have a coworker who actually got a couple of characters he doesn't really understand. It's suppose to say "lover" but instead the 2 characters say "love boy."
