Default Best Place to Buy Books Online?

Wanted to pick up a couple of books as well as the Harry Potter boxset and noticed that Indigo/Chapters.ca is more expensive than Amazon.ca.

Most offer free shipping which is good of course...

This is my first time buying books online...anybody know of any other good sites?

I don't think there is anything better than Amazon.

I buy from both Amazon and Chapters depending on the price. Amazon usually has the best price but not always. Both have always offered good service so I can recommend either.

And make sure and check out amazon.com and .ca, sometimes .com is far cheaper even though they charge the shipping.

Both are great, fast and reliable. Indigo is not necessarily more expensive if you have a Chapters preferred customer card. And Chapters does have the advantage of being able to return at any store in town if something is wrong with the order.

That's correct. I'm even willing to spend a few dollars more, and wait a little bit longer and buy from .com. Amazon.ca needs to lower a lot of their prices to reflect the market. Further, I wish they would get into selling more products like their .com counterparts do.

I like Amazon because of the ability to buy used books. I've bought several and they've been in great shape for a much cheaper price usually. It also helps in finding older, out of print books.

Check out Abebooks.com, it's a bunch of booksellers selling new, used and rare books. I worked for a bookstore in the summer that uploaded their book inventory onto Abe.

Great site for finding those hard-to-find books.

I buy from Amazon.ca or Chapters.ca depending on price. My last couple orders have come from chapters as they have been cheaper across the board for my books.

I have had good experiences with Amazon.ca and nothing but problems with Chapters.ca. Chapters.ca tends to list books in-stock and then after the fact e-mails and says they are not in stock and will take several more weeks for delivery. I've missed out on having the books I wanted for vacation several times due to this. I only use Chapters.ca if it's a gift card now - and just yesterday I experienced another problem with them.

Nothing but praise for Amazon.ca though.

For books and stuff, yes. The other things like small appliances and those goods, no.

amazon.com is great for books, dvds and blur-ray discs. They won't ship everything, but for those items the price is often low enough to cancel out what you pay for the added shipping.
