Watching it now, really really well done.
History channel is starting a new show on Jan 4th called Tank Battles which is by the same people who did battle 360 and Patton 360 where they recreated battles using modern computer graphics.

They are not synced up... Just like Discovery US and Canada, very different programing.

Apocalypse was very good. A little too summarized for my tastes but still lots of good info.

I actually really enjoyed the "Dogfight" series
Some of the stories are awesome. The one dogfight in the Korean war between the Sabre and the Russian trainer in the Mig was the best.

I happened to come across that on the PVR and recorded the Inside Vietnam program. Haven't watched it yet.

Something sort of struck me while watching this series on Vietnam. There are a lot of American soldiers who fire their weapons from the hip. Is this a kind of cultural thing during the time period? Or because of draftees and a perhaps a lack of discipline by the militaries of the US?
If you watch videos on YouTube about marines or army in Afghanistan or Iraq, most of their shots are well placed and aimed. There is no shooting from the hip. Has there been a fundamental change in the armies?
I remember reading that the reason 3 round burst was placed on m16's because of the amount of rounds spent in Vietnam. I don't know how true that is, but perhaps after Vietnam an emphasis was placed on fire control?

Training was a lot different and not as good back then, especially in the U.S. Army. The concept was maximum firepower, especially since they were mostly fighting an enemy that they couldn't see.
Discipline and especially fire discipline wasn't as good.
The Marines were an entirely different story, they had to carry ammo into the battle so they were careful with its use.
