Default Food Riots & Tax Rebellions by 2012

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=1ad_1226630673

Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute, is renowned for his accuracy in predicting fut More..ure world and economic events, which will send a chill down your spine considering what he told Fox News this week.

Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.

This is just like the movie Running Man....now we can finally see the Butcher of Bakersfield fight Captain Freedom!

Remember to clap if you love Dynamo!

I highly, highly doubt things will get near that point. 2009 will be a rough year, but not this post apocalyptic calamity people tend to toss around every so often.

I'd also like to see stories about this from more reputable sources.

So some random fruitcake is predicting doom and gloom, and Fox news jumped all over it?

If you not making long term plans now your insane. Stock up on dry goods, weapons, ammo and dont sell your gold. They know whats coming thats why you see all those commercials wanting to buy it up.

If you can buy gold from pawn shops, and people that you know. Not sure if it will happen as fast as 2012, but its coming.

This isnt the big one, but its coming. No way we can continue on this path of taking care of people who dont want to work or produce.

Yeah. It's all those poor, lazy people's fault. And guns and ammo can fix everything...

Don't do it while watching a Flames game or you may have to buy a new TV.

This "Institute" has a PO box.

Check their (or likely "his") website. It's like an infomercial, complete with a blatantly faked CNN "newscast" on "RNN".

There are two references to Nostradamus within 15 seconds of opening the site.

He did accurately predict the Presidential election though, so I'll give him that. He boldly and dramatically stated that it would be either Obama or McCain, depending on what the people want on election day. It was kind of eerie how he nailed that one.

Of anything, that actually makes sense. One way out of a recession is to encourage spending. If they can get people to stockpile staples like this, and enough people do it, it sure can't hurt the economy.

Good point, anyone know where I can get a truckload of ammo for a good price?

Garth Turner (a former conservative bigwig) is also telling people to move to the country and learn how to hunt squirrels:

Lucky for me, my neighbourhood is overrun with gophers... surely they are nearly as nutritious as squirrels?

I don't think things will get that bad that quick. Almost seems like another shot to try an pin some significance to the year 2012.

And yes, his particular arguments and fears are pretty silly.

But the way pollution, resource scarcity, and population is going we are headed for this some day. I really doubt our technology, green shift, or shift towards caring for others will help us in time. It's a snowball that is getting bigger quick, and the full extent of our current situation isn't reported in the mainstream.

We need drastic changes in the way we do things now and no one seems to be prepared to do that. Greed still runs and rules. Both in the halls of power (government and corporate), and with humanity as a whole.

We will see some of these problems and a HUGE lifestyle shift within 50 years. Guaranteed. Whether we will be up to the challenge, or it will cause larger and greater wars and conflict will remain to be seen.

Haha. Garth Turner was never a conservative bigwig. He was always a bit of a nut, maybe that is why he feels so close to the squirrels.

I have no idea how people can actually believe that based on how things are progressing (regressing really), our future is bright!!?? Delirious perhaps?

There is still good out there but it's losing the battle.

Fasten your seat belts...

I don't think that it's a question about if there is more good or less good in us and our societies than years past. If I had to actually pin that down, Id say there is more good now. A small amount, but we have grown in many ways.

But that can't really be measured anyway.

No I think that it's the decisions we make now are soooo much more important.

Our weapons are bigger, our planet smaller. There's more people, and less resources and space. Our ability to great amounts of harm (or good) are higher than ever before.

So even if as a species we have progressed a little, it's not at the same rate that our problems and situation has progressed.

Really, our intelligence (or knowledge) has made great strides, while our wisdom has only made smaller strides.

You seriously think there are going to be food riots and armed rebellions?

We thought much the same in the sixties, none of us will live past thirty, we'll blow ourselves up, there is no future but when we hit the big 3 0 and not much had changed, just different piles, we got on with making something meaningful of our lives. We'll have our ups and downs, this is just entering one of the downs.

There will be one day. There already are in other parts of the world.

Not by 2012 in the western world, no. At least not in a large scale (but still obviously possible in Katrina like situations.)

But there will be one day. If not in our lifetime then in our children's lifetime.

The problems (over crowding, resource scarcity, and pollution) are rising quickly and aready compounding and feeding each other. We've only started talking about solutions, and most of those no one wants to implement cause they are to worried about their standing in the immediate future.

The same way we have borrowed against our children's future in the form of larger and larger debt, the whole planet has borrowed against the next generation with it's greed.

You can't do that forever. It's caught up to us.
