Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
Thought this deserved a seperate thread from the Conan thread.
Premiere is tonight. I know many of you think Jimmy is "not funny", but I think this show has a chance. I think he is popular with women. One of the best bands on the planet, The Roots, will be his backing band. There are a number of big guests this week. The show is done in NY, which should give it more of an edge than an LA show. NBC will support it heavily.

We will have to see who is in the supporting cast - the show will make it or break it on the comedy bits.
Tonight, Robert Deniro and Justin Timberlake.

Fallon better be good considering NBC has pretty much been paying him for sitting at home staying available for a gig like this.

Meanwhile, Michaels and Fallon assembled a well-pedigreed team for Late Night, including Higgins, longtime SNL producer Michael Shoemaker as showrunner, and celebrated hip-hop group the Roots as the house band.
Of course, Fallon also has a staff of 11 writers to help him.
Guests for the first week include Robert De Niro, Tina Fey, Cameron Diaz, and Donald Trump.
The pressure on Fallon will surely die down in June, when O'Brien takes the reins of The Tonight Show and is once again under the critical microscope. And one advantage Fallon has going for him: a large group of celebrity pals — like Drew Barrymore, who's appearing on Late Night Friday, March 6.

Yeah, except he would have to stop after every third syllable to laugh and mug at the camera.

Have they aleady taped some of the shows? The reason I ask is I was listening to CBC radio on Friday and some entertainment insider has said that sneak previews suggest that it wasn't funny at all and doubts Fallon will be well received. He is predicting that NBC's late night talk show division is committing suicide with the programming changes. He also predicted that Letterman is likely going to benefit and the early word is that CBS is so confident in this, that they are going to give him a 10 year extension soon.

If it follows the tradition of Conan and Leno, they tape in the afternoon for that evening's show.
They might be talking about those online shows he has been doing to lead up to the show. I haven't seen any of them myself.

If Tiny Fey appears they need to do Weekend Update again. The best Weekend Update duo there ever was.

You could serve a turd on a nude supermodel and cover it with sprinkles and whipped cream, but it still wouldn’t become something I’d enjoy eating.

You can't be serious.
Oh wait, I see what you did there. You used the word duo, thereby eliminating the great Weekend Update hosts that did it alone and were actually funny.
