Default Flames sign D-man Josh Meyers

He is playing in Abbotsford currently. Was here in training camp I believe. Signed to a 2 year deal. 2009-2011

www.capgeek.com

Anybody from Abbotsford have a scouting report on him?.

Decent two-way guy. I think he's on the older side, mid-twenties, so he's been around for a while. If I'm not mistaken he was in LA's system for quite a while.

Probably not a guy you're going to see in the NHL.

He's ok. He really stepped up since the injuries started. Nothing special.

I have to say I have never seen him play so not commenting on anything other than the facts I've looked up. Saw this topic and typed his name in at hockeydb. He was drafted by LA in '05 out of the USHL and started at the U of Minnesota-Duluth the fall after being picked. A very good program as far as I know. He played all four years of his college eligibility so that explains him being a bit older with no real pro experience. He's 24 and only has 43 pro games.

For whatever it's worth, he had some decent point totals at Min-Duluth. Sophomore season he had 24pts in 37gp and 28pts in 43gp in his senior year. If nothing else it hints he might have been getting some decent minutes.

It could be nothing much in terms of getting to a higher level, or after a decent amount of pro experience he could be a surprise late-bloomer. Not a bad thing to take a chance on a 6-3 kid who came out of a good program and is (apparently) playing well for your farm club.

Yes, I've been to a few of the games since all of the injuries to our big name players. He's really stepped for Abbotsford and is now up there with Kronwall as being the most consistent D-man on the team.

However, I support what Ren said, he's not really an NHL guy.
