It will be interesting to see if any of his unpublished stuff comes out now that he's gone. He's rumoured to have been writing for years, though his last published work was about 50 years ago I think.

Wow, a rough stretch for my favorite authors, with Paul Quarrington dying of cancer last week.

Catcher in the Rye great book.
But for some reason I already thought he was dead. I guess being a recluse will do that.

Catcher in the Rye was one of the more overrated books I've read. Then again, I enjoyed reading Back to the Future Part 3 (yes, the book) so I'm not really an authority.

Put me down as a fan of Catcher in the Rye. Holden Caulfield is one of the greatest characters of all time. I know he was old, but im actually a little sad to hear of his death.
I wonder if we'll finally see a movie adaption...

I enjoyed the comic book more...the simplified text and pictures prevented me from getting lost amongst the many time traveling plot twists.

Doubt it. He was adamant in his life that he would never allow a movie adaptation. I bet he put a clause to that effect in his will.
Also, everyone should read Franny and Zooey just for the awesome dialogue.

Probably when the mailbox gets full...or the smell. Does technology make it easier or more difficult being a recluse (i.e. cellphones, internet, netflix, etc.)?

I never understood the attraction to The Catcher in the Rye, maybe somebody could put in context for me?
