Heheh, that's exactly what I was thinking...
Goes to show you though, that all drugs, prescribed or not, are just that. Drugs. And they all have good effects and bad effects. The reasons some are legal and some are illegal has very little to do with their effects or their perceived dangers. If you doubt that, ask yourself why alcohol is still legal...
A lot of the drugs that you can get in the hospital or have prescribed by the doctor are far more dangerous than ones you might encounter, 'on the street'. If you factor in legal drugs like alcohol and nicotine, and over the counter drugs and painkillers which don't even require prescriptions, and their potential to be used, abused, and get addicted to, I've often wondered why people get all bent out of shape about the 'illegal' drugs. It goes to show you it's more of a cultural and misinformation thing.
The worst effect a drug ever had on me was when I was in the hospital filled with doctors and nurses and other trained professionals administering the drug to me.
That's not a shot against doctors by any means, I think their some of the best people on the planet. It's just an illustration of how there is no such thing as a 'good drug' or a 'bad drug'.

Marijuana may block Alzheimers!!!
For you frequent users, I figured that by the time you made it this far down the thread you'd need a reminder of what the topic is.

Did you know that Heroin is metabolized by the body into a compound that is identical to morphine and that's what gets the user high?
Just something to consider if you're ever in the position where you can have control over your morphine when in hospital.

Well, I'm fairly sure they're both opiates, so that sounds about right.
I'd assume if you ever had control over your own morphine you'd go nuts with it, being too drugged to know any better. I don't think they give you _unlimited_ access to the stuff, I'm fairly sure morphine addiction is so well-known that medical staff take measures to prevent it. I'd hope.

They do limit it. The machines are set up so that you can only give yourself a certain max amount over a certain period of time. Or so I've been told. Never had the chance to try it out, myself. :P.

My father has control over his own morphine (for his cancer) and he doesn't go hog wild on it.
Although he did offer some to me when I had a headache before.
