Default selling a car

So the wife and I are thinking about upgrading our second car to something roomier, and we're looking at getting the maximum value out of it. We considered trading in, but I get the feeling most dealerships would give a low ball offer on the vehicle for the convenience factor.

If we sell the car on our own, my question is what are my responsibilities as the seller? The car is a 2006 however it has been in one accident (due to some jerk leaving their trailer hitch in the middle of crowchild at night). Obviously this would need to be disclosed, but if it's been repaired by the original dealer, would we still expect a hit on our asking price, and how much would be reasonable?

Depends on the damage.. If its just a panel or something minor no discount is really required. If the frame has been damaged and its been pulled then it might warrant some kind of reduction. Its worthwhile to sell privately, most dealers will give you blackbook value which in most cases is significantly less than what its worth.
