Stelmach Cabinet Shuffle
The Cabinet has been shuffled
Biggest surprise is that the Health Minister is now Gene Zwozdesky, from Aboriginal Affairs before. He's suppose to be a much calmer and more communicative Minister than Liepert.
Quote:

(Horner is the newly minted deputy premier, but has held the role of advanced education minister since 2008)
Minister of Finance — Ted Morton (NEW)
Minister of Education, government house leader — Dave Hancock
President of the Treasury Board — Lloyd Snelgrove
Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations — Iris Evans (NEW)
Minister of Energy — Ron Liepert (NEW)

Meh. Putting Morton there is for optics. We'll see if he's actually allowed to bring fiscal conservatism back to the post as we would expect.

Until Farmer Ed is shuffled out of the Premier's seat, nothing changes.

He initiates things such as Bill 44 which then brings about negative rights as opposed to protecting positive rights. Then provides a defense against being homophobic by pulling out of Edmonton's Pride Parade.

More to the point, why does the province need 23 Ministers in Cabinet? Seems a little excessive. A cabinet post for every ~150,000 people?
Decent shuffle overall, I suppose. Sorry though Ed, I still don't think it gets you re-elected.

We don't need 23 cabinet members. When a party becomes dynastic as the PCs have and hold 70/82 seats (might be off by one or two), creating more cabinet posts is an effective way to keep more backbenchers happy preventing party dissension.

Lindsay Blackett is very supportive of things like the Youth Singers of Calgary and the new National Music Centre, which are / will be important entities for youth organizations and musical programs witihn this province. He represents an element of society in the same way that the rest of the ministers do. He's a very open-minded and intelligent individual, I've had the opportunity to hear him speak several times.

I thought he showed some promise at first, but his role in Bill 44 made me lose a lot of respect for him, and he doesn't seem to have done anything of note since to make me change my mind.

I wouldn't call him intelligent after the convocation speech he laid on ACAD last year. It went something like this:
The Conservatives love the arts. But in order for the Conservatives to continue loving the arts, you need to continue voting for the Conservatives.
Seeing as when MLAs and ministers speak at convocations they are supposed to be there simply as a member of government congratulating the convocated and not in a partisan role, that plug was absolutely disgusting.
It's great that he's supportive of those things, but really, isn't anyone who's half-human?
