Anyone up for some intramural ball hockey?
Looking to play some intramural ball hockey at the U of C this term. There are 7 games in a season, each on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, not including playoffs.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe teams are 3 on 3 plus goalies. Was wondering if a few other CPers wanted to play, we could put together a team.
Deadline is on Monday I believe so yea it's short notice but just throwing it out there.
I would enter the team at the B level because personally I play at a competitive level higher than recreation, but probably not at a high enough level to play at the A level (which from the sounds of it is for former university and college players, as well as former high school players).
You don't have to be a student at the U of C to enter. No drinking allowed though

Is this in a gym? Co-Ed? Costs? Equipment requirements? I'd be interested if I had more information? What times would the games be at?

Yes it's in the Red Gym I believe. It costs 300 bucks to enter a team, which would get divided among the members. Games would be anywhere from 6:30pm to 10:30pm on those two nights.
Playoffs TBD obviously.
If you check out the U of C's website it has the other info.

I believe so, though I think you can have a couple extras and just sub. Maybe somebody who has played before would have some information on that, I've never done this so I'm not sure and I couldn't find it on the site.
I know you need at least 4 though.

Are you a goalie? We will need one, cause I'm no goalie
Maybe PM me your information, such as age, experience, etc. Not that it really matters, I just will want to know what we have.

Damn. I'm already in a league that runs on Wednesdays and have my son on Tuesdays till 9. Can I be a spare that gets called when you're short players?

Damn, I'd love to go play, but if its that late, I don't think I can play. I usually work at 5am in the morning on weekdays.

Yup, just trying to build a team here first. Once we have a full team, I'll add you.

Alright I finally tracked down a full set of rules. Here they are if anyone is interested
http://www.ucalgary.ca/campusrec/fil...all_Hockey.pdf
Indeed it is 3 on 3 hockey, with goalies.
However you can dress up to 12 players for each game, so let's get a few more people so that we can actually roll two or three lines.
Have one goalie lined up but could certainly use another.
Here's what we have so far
1. arloiginla
2. Delthefunky *can play goalie*
3. Kris LeTang *can play goalie*
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
C'mon CP....the Puckers-to-be team needs you!

What do you consider late?
You could probably start games if you wanted to, Delthefunky said he played every position.
I'm not signing people up unless they confirm and commit. If there's a game you can't make it to here and there, that's fine but I don't want to end up forfeiting games because 3-4 team members can't make it to any given game.

I'd totally be in but.....
"Players must use sticks with complete plastic blades. Fibreglass or plastic inserts into wooden blades are not acceptable. All tape should be removed from blades as well. Only wooden or plastic shafts are allowed as well. One piece sticks are not allowed."
Using a one piece in the GHL league I'm in right now, don't want to switch between plastic and composite all the time.

I agree with this. I only own composite sticks. If they are not allowed, unfortunately, I will not be playing
Bomber, are you in GHL men's or co-ed? What team are you on?

I played in this league a few years back. It's good times.
Couple things I remember from playing:
- The playing area is oddly shaped. It's almost as wide as it is long.
- You have to have a helmet with a full cage/visor.
- And yes, the sticks provided for use are brutal so bring your own if you can.
Not sure if things have changed though. Just a head's up!

Helmets are fine, but full cage or visor?
I think I am out
