After 40 years Heinz is coming out with a re-designed ketchp pack for condiments. Complete with a dipping cup and tear away base it's supposed to hold 3 times as much ketchup.
I don't really consume fast food but a lot of folks still do and a pretty sizable number of them are putting ketchup on their fries. Rather than get 11 packs of ketchup now you only need 2.

Wow... the Australia tomato sauce vid really brings back some memories. Condiments have been in packages like that in Australia and New Zealand for at least 12 years.
Its one area where North America is decades behind. This is what they use in Australia. As you can see, it is much more convenient.
While that is more convienient than the old packaging, the new Heinz packaging beats that hands down.
I never really messed with kethcup packaging before, but will probably now (or soon?) because I would fall under the "dip" category.
I think the reason they never went in the direction that they have in Australia is because the added cost wasn't deemed worthy of the added benefit of easier squeezing of the ketchup.
Basically these new packages are just like they serve BBQ and sweet & sour sauce in, with the added benefit of also being able to squeeze the sauce out if you prefer.

Since visiting Europe a year ago I always eat my fries with mayonnaise at home. Sucks you can't get mayonnaise at any fast food restaurants here in Canada.
Now if they would only figure out a new package to hold relish. I hate relish packages. Only half the relish comes out and it makes it tough to spread it on your hot dog, evenly. Mustard packages aren't that better either.

Actually, there are some fast food restaurants that have mayo available as a condiment in packets across the country. It varies by region/locale but the practice does actually occur in this country.

If you eat at McDonald's go up to the counter and ask for special mcchicken sauce or something like that. It's actually just mayo.

Don’t get too excited, they make you pay for it and it tastes awful... I’ll take our free and much tastier ketchup any day despite its packaging shortcomings
