So I was at my wife's Christmas party some weeks back and we ended up at Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe Christmas 2009 at the Jube.
One of his musical was Matt Andersen, a blues act who's making waves out on the East Coast, recently winning the East Coast Music Awards' male artist of the year for 2008 or 2009, can't quite remember. He's currently doing a cross-country tour with the Vinyl Cafe.
When Matt first took the stage, he sang one of his originals, called So Gone Now. I was immediately captivated by his voice. The song was fantastic, to boot.
However, when he came on for his second song, he sang O Holy Night and absolutely blew me away. He had the most captivating, dynamic and booming voices I had ever heard. In fact, I had never experienced anything quite like it. He received a raucous standing ovation from the Calgary crowd and was very well deserved.
Thought I'd pass this along now that the O Holy Night video has been posted by request for those who may enjoy it or happened to be at the show and saw him.
O Holy Night:

So Gone Now:
Old Crow Medicine Show - Wagon Wheel (cover. Better than original, IMO)
I have been patiently waiting for the Vinyl Cafe to put this Christmas tour out on Podcast so I can have that Matt Andersen version of O Holy Night.
I first heard of Matt listening to the Vinyl Cafe in the spring and was very excited to see that he was going to be in Calgary. I got a chance to meet Stuart McLean before the concert and talked to him about Matt...his words were "if you like what he's done before, just wait until you see what he does tonight". Boy, was his warning ever right!
