Default Digital Photo Frame

Hey guys I need some help deciding on a digital photo frame. It is for a close family member and I am looking to spend around $100.

I have been looking around on Amazon.ca trying to read the reviews but it hasn't really helped my decision.

Has anyone here bought a digital photo frame? Where did you buy it? Is there warranty on these? Anything you really liked/disliked about it?

I live in Saskatoon so our stores are similar but not exact.. I was thinking London Drugs or Future Shop.

Let me know, thanks.

I haven't looked into these much. But just check out prices then look at some decent reviews at Test Freaks - Digital Photo Frames sorted by rating

These are both $99.99 at Futureshop right now:
Samsung 8" Digital Picture Frame (SPF-87H) - 9.1 rating (2 expert, 41 user ratings)

Kodak 8" Digital Photo Frame (M820) - 7.0 rating (1 expert, 23 user reviews)

I picked one up at Canadian Tire yesterday. 8" black electrohome digital frame. Has some neat features and operates with sd cards, etc. $99.00 on sale was what i paid for it, and it looks like worth every cent. I think the recipient will love it.
Real sexy stuff.

There is one at Costco right now for $99. It an HP one, that comes in a 12 in frame, with a screen at about 10x8. We just loaded a bunch of pictures on it and it looks nice. Not sure of the model, but something worthwhile to check out.

Nice thank you. I was looking at that M820 before I even read that review and now I think I am sold on it.

I would love to go with the 10.2 inch but that is just out of my budget, the 8 inch looks like I can get it in town for around $110 Canadian.. and the USB compatibility means I can just buy a 1 GIG flash drive for them instead of a 60 dollar memory card.

The Samsung SPF-87H has a better rating, takes USB and is $50.00 off for $99.99 (CDN) right now at Futureshop. I think it looks like a better frame.

Ya wow I looked fight over that one because LD had it listed at $150... but for the same price it is definitely a better frame.

Thanks again HFD, you are the man.

Interesting though that Samsung is rated higher than the Kodak by about 30 spots, but the reviews are much more critical.

Must just be the expert?

Ahh poop that Samsung isn't in stock at any of the future shops in my province.. the Kodak one is however.

What about this guy at Visions whats your opinion.

Rated a few slots higher than the Kodak a few lower than the Samsung but no expert reviews. Good deal though.

That looks like a good frame, I guess you have to decide if $11.00 more is worth 1".

The Sony one is 7" and the Samsung is 8".

A lot of the Kodak ones are LED backlit, which is a plus in my opinion since they are likely to be turned on for long stretches at a time. Not sure about other manufacturers, but I'd look for LED backlighting if its going to actually be used long term.

Well if that Samsung was in stock at Future Shop in my province I would buy it right now.

But the only price I can find it at here is $150 and thats more than I wanted to spend.

7 Inches is quite a big difference from 8.. might be worth it to look at the Kodak.

Please don't buy at Visions - it only encourages them to stick with their annoyingly unfunny ad campaign.

IMO, resolution is more important than inches.

My advice is to buy a frame 7 or 8 inches. The 10 and 12 inches are overkill. As they get bigger, it looks more and more like a monitor rather than a picture frame IMO.
